Before he led the New York Jets to his guaranteed Super Bowl victory in 1969, Joe Namath, better known as "Broadway Joe," rolled with Bear Bryant's University of Alabama Crimson Tide. As quarterback for three years, Namath led his team to a 29-4 record and three bowl appearances. Although they lost to the University of Texas in the 1965 Orange Bowl, Namath was still honored as the game's Most Valuable Player.
